when first planning a physical edition of i94 roadkill, i wanted to include a mix tape with it. i wanted to burn a bunch of songs that remind me of summer 2018 (when the comic takes place) onto a cd. it turned out to be too stressful to get that together along with the zines. so i thought i would include some of that scrapped material here. i remember i had a track listing that included built to spill, future islands, nelly furtado, and acid ghost.
initially i94 roadkill was about a raccoon that comes back to the town they grew up in and starts dj ing at warehouse shows. before i called it i94 roadkill, i was calling it Bad Luck Party, cuz the 3 main characters were all going to be miserable assholes that met at a party where everything goes wrong. i think i was going to try and portray a healthy poly relationship where 1 of them is fake punk, 1 of them is normie, and 1 of them dosent give a fuck. alot of these elements were scrapped here, but now that im reflecting on it some of the ethos live on in public transit love story.
in going through my old files and sketchbooks for these development sketches i have come to the conclusion that i was much cooler in 2021.
